How to Make a Crackling Bowl with #jennypassionart Well in this video you will see how to make this unique bowl. Even though this one did not come out exactly as planned it was still a great piece and fun to make. Find the steps below of how Jenny built this piece along with notes of things she would do differently to improve it.

Passionart Materials you will need

  • The mould should be at least 300mm diameter
  • Passionart 1 to1 or 2 to 1 resin - 580mls or 550grams if in weight
  • Colour Passion Mica Powders
  • Rubber gloves
  • Ice-block sticks
  • Paper cups
  • Measure by volume container if using 1 to 1 by volume
  • Scales if using 2 to 1 by weight
  • baby wipes
  • Skewers
  • Low pressure warm air dryer
  • Gas torch - small is best
  • Sticky tape

Passionart Steps to Follow

  • Have your resin at room temp and weigh out how much you require
  • Mix your resin slowly so not to introduce to much air then let rest for 10 mins
  • Clean your mould with painters or sticky tape - removes micro dust
  • Once your resin reaches 33c pour enough into your mold to cover it by 1 to 2mm deep
  • Divide the remaining resin into 4 equal parts and add your Colour Passion Mica
  • Make sure you leave a small amount of clear resin for the final push / stage
  • Pour your colours around the mould slightly overlapping the previous colour
  • See video for above as well as doing the clear push at the end
  • Now use your low warm heat gun to warm resin causing blending
  • Now you can add glitter to the center if you want to for more bling
  • Now hit it with a gas torch blue flame but do not burn resin or mould
  • Leave to cure for 8 to 10 hours temp depending
  • Spray your forming mold with silicone spray
  • Remove from your casting mould and place in or on your forming mold
  • Leave to cure fully
  • Remove from the mould and you have just made your first bowl
  • Now you can paint the edges after a light sand if you want to or leave natural
