I made a PassionArt Cosmic Sunrise Dirty Pour video with Jenny Chan of PassionArt Resin Art Supplies. This was another fun project to do utilizing the Colour Passion colours. The line-up of colours we will be using today includes the following
Soft Rose PassionVibrant Purple Kymmie Shimmer
Red LobsterMandarinLemon Twist
Base Cell WhiteYellow Passion Deborah Shimmer.
Time to get Creative
- The first thing you will want to do is tape up the sides of your artboard to create a dam to hold
Cosmic Sunrise
Suthe resin back until it is half set. Then, remove the tape off, letting the thicker resin run over the sides for a nice-looking edge. - Now pour some base cell white onto your base. Depending on how much white you want to punch through the colours forming cells, you can pour a small amount or enough to cover most of the base. The critical thing to remember is that the white base cell can sometimes become overpowering. It takes a few boards to know how much base you want to put on first.
- Now layer your colours into your large cup, adding some base cell white between every few colours. This increases the number of cells that you can create. The video below shows the process between 2.20 and 2.47 minutes, followed by the pour.
- You can pour out slowly from close to the board or higher up, creating different effects. An alternative is to pour your colours out in a spiral motion or in blobs over the board that will make alternative looks.
- As shown in the video here at 3.08 mins, we can lift up the board to move the resin around until we are happy with the look.
- Once this is done, simply flame torch it, bringing out more of the cells and pop any microbubbles in the art form. Now wait until it's tacky and pull off the tape, allowing the resin to run over and cover the sides.
- Once your board is set, sand off any dribbles on the back of the board, and you are ready to add feet if it is a platter. Drill a hole in the center and turn it into a clock. Place hangers on it for a wall hanging. Creativity and tutorials start here with Resin Wood Tables NZ, Resinzwood, and Passionart.
