Resinzwood Top Ten Pro Tips Passionart 1:1
Store your Passionart 1:1 Art Craft resin in a cool to warm and dry environment out of direct sunlight. If you store the resin in a room that is too cold, it may crystallise in the bottle, which is not ideal. This can be resolved by heating the resin and hardener in a hot-water bath.
Before using your Passionart 1:1 Art Craft resin, ensure you heat the resin only in a water bath of hot water. Note that heating the hardener component may reduce your working time, so, as a rule of thumb, heating the resin only is advisable for beginners. I heat both Part A and Part B this way. Heating the resin before use makes mixing easier and helps release air bubbles before you use the product in your creative pieces.
Always put the Part B Hardener into your mixing container first to ensure that all of the Part A resin comes into contact with Part B. Failing to do this can have dire results, especially if you are like me and scrape every last bit out of the container. The issue is that scraping the raw resin from the outer sides of the mixing container will result in unset pieces in your creative work.
Ensure you mix your Passionart Craft resin by Scraping the sides of the container you are mixing your resin in to ensure that both part A and Part B are well mixed.
Maintaining an even and consistent room temperature of 20 °C to 23 °C is the best practice for the mixing and curing of your Passionart 1:1 resin. This principle applies to all of our resins. Most resins do not favour being exposed to inconsistent temperatures.
Try to keep your resin mixing and pouring in a dust-free environment. This can be hard to do at the best of times, no matter how cautious we think we are. At the very least, for smaller pieces, use a cake stand cover from most $2 shops. For larger projects, you can purchase fine netting for curtains or cake stands from your local Spotlight or Briscoes stores.
Air circulation in the room is another factor to consider. Ideally, but not vital, try to ensure that you have air movement in your working area, but never have a fan blowing directly over your crafted pieces
Never be tempted to handle your crafted pieces too soon. Although the recommended cure time is 24 hours, it is still soft at this point, and you can leave fingerprint impressions in most resins, regardless of brand. I like to err on the side of caution, even leaving my pieces for a further 24 hours to ensure the resin is fully cured.
