Oh how things have changed from the early days of my first website and online shop. Looking at all the great platforms out there now it has taken me a while to find the perfect platform that has all the functions that I did not realize that I needed until now. The previous platform I was using prior to this Shopify was a Go Daddy platform and that worked well for my needs at that time but it is not a user friendly option for a large ecommerce site. The biggest problem was it would let you add 100's of products but it would only allow you to add 10 images per collection. So having 24 items for example only 10 of them could have images leaving the other 14 with no corresponding image.
But that was then and this is now and I am totally stoked with the Shopify Platform as it allows me to do everything I need and want to do. It has a lot more functionality to create what I believe will be a very user friendly, easy navigational website.
SEO Tags & being found on the net
Sometimes it can be really daunting trying to get your site on the first page of Google so having the ability's to do all your own SEO and meta tagging for products making it easier for people to find what you are selling is vital. Thankfully Shopify has the tools to do all of this and more. Having information and live time reporting is allowing us to see what campaigns, keywords are performing and the ones that are not performing. That combined with the ability to cross reference your tags to that of what people actually search for is making this platform incredibly valuable.
Image Tagging, Alt Text
Having the ability to add text to an image for SEO, Search Engine Optimization is awesome. Just remember to name your images with an appropriate name before you upload to your site as this plays a key part in Google online image search.
